London-via-Southampton singer Laurel writes, records, produces and mixes all of her own music in the comfort of her East London bedroom studio. Recently signed to Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records, the young artist has announced her debut EP Park which will arrive on November 18.

In “Hurricane,” the first single off the effort — Laurel plunges right in to the pith of the song as she sings — ‘Baby bring the weather with you, rage it / Driving down the south coast after dark / And I wonder if I’ll ever see you again.’ The immediacy of Laurel’s vocals coupled with the driving bassline and sinuous soundscape, which mimic the singer’s subject render this pop-rock track a wonderfully raw and powerful piece of music. Hear “Hurricane” below and look for her debut album to drop sometime next year.
