There’s nothing I like more than the tropical goodness of a balearic tune, and this track by Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio fits the bill. The Greco-Roman release “Sunburn Modern” can be found on his 2012 EP Sunburn, the vibe of which Baio has described as “hopeful melancholy.” See if you agree by streaming the beat below.
TCTS – Over
Rising Manchester DJ/producer Sam O’Neill, or TCTS as he calls himself has just released a new EP These Heights via Greco-Roman. The UK label, whose roster of artists includes the likes of Disclosure, TEED, and co-founder Joe Goddard, is no insignificant backing in a rapidly flourishing world of future garage. Feel free to play the following track off the EP “over and over.”
you did my little heart in like a house of cards…
London Grammar – Nightcall (Joe Goddard Remix)
Although I had heard the London Grammar cover of Kavinsky’s “Nightcall” before seeing their show in October, it had failed to hold the same allure as the rest of their music. That all changed however hearing the downtempo track performed live, from the powerful pipes of Hannah Reid herself.
The original cover is a slow-to-build ballad, but Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard has rendered a captivating reinterpretation with the addition of drum and bass. The single will be out December 8th — but you can pre-order it here.
