Back with the third installment of his handful of releases, Brooklyn-based German artist Von Sell shared his latest electropop offering this week. The new single, “Stay” was crafted in conjunction with producer Nick Stumpf (Cavemen, NVDES) and is a brighter, more upbeat number than previous slow-burner of an effort “I Insist.” Speaking on the inspiration for the track, David Von Sell states “I remember thinking about these archaic roles men and women assign each other in relationships, emotionally, sexually, temperamentally, intellectually. We’ve evolved in every way until it comes to how our relationships actually materialize. It’s like we’re still wearing our kids clothes and they hardly fit but we refuse to buy something new in our size ‘cause of our programming.” Layered with glittering synths, thick bass, and playful vocal effects, the new track is another infectious addition to Von Sell’s collection and further assurance that the soulful artist has staying power.
Stream “Stay” and if you’re in the NYC area, you can catch Von Sell at his artist residency this month at Pianos on August 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Von Sell came onto our radar in 2015 with his infectious electropop track “Ivan,” making CCP’s list of electronic artists to keep an eye out for in the future. Now the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Berlin musician has made good on that prediction with a new song out called “I Insist.” More mellow and pensive than previous effort, “I Insist” is a soulful electro jam with smooth production and delectable vox.
Listen below, we insist.
As stated earlier in the week, we’ve been working on clearing out submissions from the past year to make room for 2016 — and in the process realized there were several noteworthy electronic tracks that never quite made it to post. Thus, we’re just going to drop them here for the sake of expediency.
The following efforts derive from emerging new artists, including debut singles from three-piece electronic band Arbitraire, European electro-pop artist Von Sell, and a London producer called Couros. The list is rounded out by the mysterious downtemp artist Nemea, Berlin-based trio Say Yes Dog, and UK singer/producer Chris Savor. If you’re into the electronic music scene, get these artists on your radar for next year. Stream below!
