Miike Snow – Happy to You

IMG_4958

Swedish electro group Miike Snow released their second full-length album Happy To You last March, and it is no short of amazing (featured on my 2012 ‘best of’ list). I had the privilege of seeing them at 930 club in DC last October and they did not disappoint (this post has been a long time coming).

Experience a bit of the magic with a clip from “Bavarian #1 (Say You Will)” below. “Devil’s Work” immediately following is another of my favorite tracks off the stellar sophomore album.

Charli XCX – I’ll Never Know

Whitehaven Beach

Traveling abroad in Australia right now, hence the lack of posts as of late. Thought I’d drop by though to share one of my favorite songs from 2012 by Charli XCX, which just happens to be the perfect soundtrack for the beach.

Incidentally, the english artist just finished a tour with St. Lucia this fall in the US and Australia (alas, prior to the SL concert I saw and my own adventures down under). Close your eyes for this one and the synths may just transport you to your own tropical island.

Grimes – Genesis

One of my favorite female artists to emerge this year is Grimes – nom de plume of Claire Boucher – a Canadian artist known for her childlike, dulcet vocals and eclectic blend of lo-fi synthpop. If you’re not yet hip to Grimes, stream and download the dream-like “Genesis” off her album Visions below.

AlunaGeorge – Your Drums, Your Love

I was first introduced to London duo AlunaGeorge via their single “You Know You Like It,” which came out last April (check out the catchy dance remix by Bondax below). The electropop group is composed of vocalist Aluna Francis and producer George Reid (hence the handle). Their addictive new track/EP, Your Drums, Your Love drops today.
