While little is known about No Ceremony///, the mysterious outfit from Manchester have been making waves on the web with dark but dreamy electronic pop tunes like FEELSOLOW, released earlier this month. Shortly thereafter, Theatre of Delays put out a remix that amps up the original track, preserving the tender undertones at the same time.
Trails and Ways – Tereza
Trails and Ways are one of my favorite bands to emerge onto the indie scene this year. Their bossa nova sound and affective lyricism is like a tropical, musical confection for my ears. Though based out of Oakland, their music is inspired by the samba sounds of Brazil, where the lead singer spent an extended period of time in Fortaleza.
Below are some of my favorite singles off of their forthcoming album, Trilingual – due to release in early 2013.
you left me in Fortaleza / I lost myself in empty walls
made myself a shoreline without water / heat and sand was all
Purity Ring – Obedear (Noah Hydes Magic Sword Remix)
It took a little while for the experimental sound of Purity Ring to grow on me. After inadvertently hearing the Canadian duo live this fall, however, I started to see their appeal. In the same vein as Crystal Castles, their sound is downright eerie – and the kind of thing that if were I to be making a Halloween/Frankenstorm playlist for instance (if? who am i kidding), would will definitely be included.
Check out Noah Hyde’s remix of “Obedear,” as well as the more demure “Fineshrine” PR original below.
Ben Howard – The Fear (Moonlight Matters Rework)
Digging this rework of British singer-songwriter Ben Howard’s “The Fear,” from Belgian producer Moonlight Matters.
I been worryin’ that my time is a little unclear
I been worryin’ that I’m losing the ones I hold dear
I been worryin’ that we all live our lives in the confines of fear
Satin Jackets – You Make Me Feel Good
Artist Spotlight: Beach House
By some miracle, I was able to see the sold out Beach House show at 930 club last night. The ethereal sounds of the Baltimore-based band are literally the stuff dreampop dreams are made of, and they did not disappoint.
Below is footage of them performing “Take Care” off previous LP Teen Dream (not the greatest quality but still), an amped up remix of “Norway,” and finally the video for my favorite track off the new album Bloom — “Wishes.”

Frank Wiedemann & Ry Cuming – Howling
“Howling” is the lush collaboration between emotive Aussie singer Ry Cuming, and German producer Frank Wiedemann of deep-house project Âme. The EP released last month is available on the label Innervisions. Check out the sultry video and entrancing remix below.
AlunaGeorge – Your Drums, Your Love
I was first introduced to London duo AlunaGeorge via their single “You Know You Like It,” which came out last April (check out the catchy dance remix by Bondax below). The electropop group is composed of vocalist Aluna Francis and producer George Reid (hence the handle). Their addictive new track/EP, Your Drums, Your Love drops today.
life can be cruel if you’re a dreamer
I just wanna have some fun / don’t tell me what can’t be done
Of all the strangers you’re the strangest that I’ve seen
Folk-rock group Lord Huron just released their debut album, Lonesome Dreams today on IAMSOUND. Akin to Fleet Foxes, their gorgeous harmonies are “a joyous collision of Appalachian percussion, calypso guitars and infectious Western melodies.”
Listen to “The Stranger,” and watch the western-themed video of “Time to Run,” complete with Indonesian subtitles below.
Tennis – Petition
The couple behind indie trio Tennis have a pretty cool story. After an extended honeymoon on a sailboat for seven months, the newlyweds took to music to record their experiences, and Tennis was conceived in the process. Now how’s that for romantic?
For the locals, Tennis is playing with Wild Belle this Monday.
