Daft Punk has released a new video for their track “Instant Crush” – featuring Julian Casablancas of the Strokes fame – from their LP Random Access Memories (surely you’ve heard of it?).And because I largely dismissed the album, yearning for the days of old DP (yes, I have music-snobbish moments), I hadn’t heard the track before now.
I’m glad I finally did, however — because this track is classic Daft Punk with a sound on which I developed an instant crush. 😉
Snowy day in the district. And although December skies are upon us, this track from Copenhagen producer Tomas Barfod seems like the perfect airy backdrop for a winter wonderland. Stream “November Skies” off his latest LP Salton Sea and pick up a FREE download on Soundcloud below.
And if that weren’t enough, check out his rework of Bon Iver’s “Re: Stacks.”
Making their debut into the electronic foray last year, the Irish dub-pop duo Young Wonder sound like something of a cross between Purity Ring, Gold Panda and Little Dragon. Stream their standout track “Orange” below.
Bombay Bicycle Club is gearing up to release their fourth studio album (untitled as of yet), via Island Records in February 2014. In anticipation of the LP, the London quartet have released the first cut “Carry Me,” along with this accompanying cutting-edge interactive video.
Personally I love me some BBC, and I dig this release so hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Stream “Carry Me” via Spotify below, along with a rad Tanlines remix of their track “Dust On the Ground.”
The following track by British DJ/producer Jakwob has been in my queue for awhile, but it somehow seems appropriate for a Monday after a holiday weekend. Stream the ethereal single “Fade” below, along with the dance remix from Le Youth (with free download!).
After a long week of holiday travels, it feels nice to be back home. Thus it would seem fortuitous that I should stumble upon this mix of Dan Croll‘s new single “Home”. The French producer Yuksek reworks the indie pop ditty into the kind of track you’ll want to cuddle up to. 🙂
This Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for the brilliant artistry and musical genius of Andrew Bird. On November 12th he released new EP I Want to See Pulaski at Night, which is primarily instrumental save for the title track. Pitchfork describes “Pulaski at Night” as Bird at his best: “tightly crafted, lyrically witty, understated yet sophisticated” – and “stalwartly Romantic.” True, true.
A. Bird has a handful of tour dates coming up in December listed below, including a stop in Brooklyn. And how they’re not already sold out, I don’t know.

New Swedish duo Say Lou Lou have been dropping a steady stream of dreampop singles over the past six months. The following tracks, “Beloved” (plus a bonus Tiedye remix) and “Better In The Dark” can be found on their Better In The Dark EP that dropped just yesterday. Check ’em out below.
Even if remixes aren’t generally your thing, you’re going to want to listen to this one. Diplo has reworked Grizzly Bear’s ShieldsB-side track “Will Calls” into a chilling (and thrilling) bass-filled event — retaining the merits of the original by keeping Ed Droste’s heartfelt vocals at the forefront. Check out this dynamic derivative below and follow the link to Soundcloud for a free download.
