RMX ROUNDUP: Say Lou Lou x Lindstrøm / Cut Copy + TJANI / Kyla La Grange + Kygo

Really excited to share the new single from Say Lou Lou in this week’s edition of Remix Roundup. The Swedish/Australian sister duo paired up with Norwegian producer Lindstrøm to create the nu-disco smash, “Games For Girls.” This addictive piece of electropop is the perfect way to get your night started and onto the dance floor. Look out for the single to be released October 13, as well as featured on Say Lou Lou’s debut album Lucid Dreaming, due out next year.

Next is the fresh Cut Copy edit from TJANI, an emerging producer from NYC who just signed to Sotto Voce records. TJANI takes the CC track “Meet Me In A House Of Love” and adds a deep house groove that will keep you movin’ through the night. Snag a free download of this one over on SoundCloud.

Lastly, take a listen to the Kygo remix of Kyla La Grange‘s “Cut Your Teeth.” The young Norwegian producer proves his worth with his shimmering tropical take of the toned down original. Stream the summery track below.

Although it’s been a pretty temperate summer by most standards, it’s still the hottest time of of the year — which is why we all deserve to cool down with some tropical electronic tunes. So to kick off this edition of Remix Roundup, we have La Roux‘s single, “Sexotheque” off of her new album Trouble in Paradise. Probably my favorite song of the album that I’ve heard so far, this upbeat track pulls you in from start to finish with its infectious melodies and glistening hooks. Next is a staggering collaboration between Ellie Goulding and Seven Lions, one of dance music’s leading innovators. Layering a sleek bass line with Ellie’s silky vocals, the Santa Barbara producer has achieved an energetic and emotive gem with the house track “Don’t Leave,” off his new EP Worlds Apart (via Casablanca Records).

And finally, rounding things off is the Keljet remix of Milwaukee‘s “Alone,” which I stumbled upon recently while revisiting another rework of the same song by Amtrac. It’s been around for a little over a year, but merits a resurrection with its driving synths, anthemic chorus and underlying feel of the tropics. RMX ROUNDUP: Seekae + Flume / MNEK x Disclosure + XYconstant / Mazde

Today’s installment of Remix Roundup begins with a fantastic new re-work from Flume, the wunderkind electronic producer from Australia. Taking the track “Test & Recognise” from the Sydney trio Seekae (of Future Classic), label-mate Flume transforms the original into a progressive and wonderfully discordant electro-affair. Next is XYconstant‘s deep house remix of Disclosure‘s “White Noise” released this past year. Making use of a subdued bassline and distorted vocals, XYconstant achieves a mesmeric, groove-laden remix ready for any dance floor. Get a free DL by liking his facebook page.

And lastly, in keeping the Disclosure train flowing — as well as the fact that I pretty much enjoy this song in all of its incarnations — is the redux version of “Help Me Lose My Mind” by German producer Mazde. Flume-esque in its production and Cyril Hahn-like in pitch, this slowed down edit is a different take on the original that is a must listen for Disclosure/London Grammar fans. This week’s Remix Roundup begins with a refreshing rework of Golden Coast‘s “Break My Fall” from Rainer + Grimm. The Toronto-based producers take the original sunny tune from LA duo Golden Coast and sprinkle some magical tropical-infused house vibes, rendering this feel-good track rooftop ready. Next we have the new one from Jessie Ware, “Tough Love” reworked by none other than Cyril Hahn. The Swiss producer known for his sexy, soulful imaginative reproductions transforms the already stunning song into a euphoric, danceable derivative. In other words, match made in heaven.

Lastly, let’s slow things down a bit with this divine downtempo edit of #1 Dads track “Return To” from Tasmanian DJ/producer Akouo. In a delectable discovery, it turns out #1 Dads is the solo project of Tom Ianske, the frontman of Australian alt-pop band Big Scary. While the original track featuring vocals from Tom Snowdon is a gorgeous piano-driven track, Akouo kicks it up a notch with his blissed-out and beat-filled production. Download gratis on SoundCloud.

RMX ROUNDUP: ZHU + Amtrac / Lana Del Ray + Munk / Alex Adair

Time for another Remix Roundup — in which we share some of the best new remixes and electronic offerings currently in circulation on the blogosphere.

Last week’s roundup featured the Odesza remix of the ZHU track “Faded,” and now we’ve got another stellar one to share from the Kentucky DJ/producer Amtrac. His nu-disco rendition is a high energy and uplifting take on the original that will ramp up your weekend in no time. Next is a new remix of Lana Del Ray’s “West Coast” from German producer and Gomma label maestro Mathias Modica, aka Munk. While we’re not big fans of the original tbh, the sexy percussion and added bossa nova flavor make this deep house derivative something worth getting excited about.

Lastly, we have a new electronic track by the up-and-coming UK producer Alex Adair. The single, “Make Me Feel Better” will do just that with its uplifting house vibes and sun-swathed synths. Sampling from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” Adair has a knack for combining unexpected sounds in a way that is imaginative and invigorating. Welcome to another edition of Remix Roundup! Let’s get started with a scintillating new rework of London Grammar‘s “Wasting My Young Years,” by Aussie producers The Aston Shuffle. Having already been remixed several times over, the Sydney duo manage to put a new, up-tempo take on the track with their signature house sound and the addition of steel drums. Next up is the phenom new remix of ZHU‘s hit track, “Faded,” from Seattle production duo Odesza. Somewhat different from their prior releases, Odesza’s darker treatment with the use of distorted guitars and earth-shattering percussion makes for a dizzying and disorienting experience in a deeply satisfying way. Last up is the new remix of Racing Glaciers “First Light” from DC’s own remix artist, backstroke.. Elegantly crafted with an expansive soundscape, shuffling synths and tranquilizing trumpet, backstroke. have made one for the books, already claiming the top spot on HypeM. RMX ROUNDUP: La Roux / Tourist / Route 94 + Henry Krinkle

With this weekend marking the official start to summer, this edition of RMX Roundup begins with something tropical by way of crowd favorite and dance/synthpop act La Roux. “Tropical Chanceur” is the third single shared off their forthcoming album, Trouble In Paradise, whose breezy synths and steel drums will have you beach bound in no time. Listen below and look out for the album to drop July 8 via Cherrytree Records. Next we have another track from Tourist, the British producer whose electronic beats we just can’t seem to get enough of lately. Last but not least is the thrilling new remix of Route 94‘s house track “My Love,” by the Shanghai-based maestro of sexy electronic grooves Henry Krinkle. Happy Saturday everyone! This week’s edition of Remix Roundup begins with a new rework of HAERTS‘ “Hemiplegia” by the UK act Avec Sans. Having ties to the HAERTS’ bassist Derek McWilliams (Alice Fox of Avec Sans was formerly in a band with him), it made perfect sense that they should put their own spin on “Hemiplegia,” applying their signature synths to transform the original into an uplifting summery mix. Next up is the more downtempo but still brilliant, percussion-focused remix of Bonobo‘s “Terrapin,” by the young London producer known as SaneBeats — also available for free DL on Soundcloud. Lastly, I leave you with another stunning remix of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” this time from Boston based duo Soul Clap. Dubbing their effort as ‘the Balearic remix,’ Soul Clap slows things down with mesmerizing synths and groovy calypso beats. Stream below.

Starting off this week’s Remix Roundup is a rework of the Scandi-Aussie group Say Lou Lou, featured on POETRY earlier this week for their latest synthpop efforts. Yannis Philippakis‎ from Foals has revamped “Everything We Touch” from their soon to be released EP and the marriage works perfectly. Next up is another electronic gem from Australian collective RÜFÜS, who just released the ‘Night Version’ of their track “We Left,” the first song they ever wrote. Stream the dark albeit danceable number below and if you like what you hear, check out their latest album ATLAS. And finally, a mashup of Moderat‘s “A New Error” and Lykki Li‘s “I Follow Rivers” by UK’s Laz Arus. Francesco Torrisi, the Italian-born but London based producer has whipped up a fine piece of deep house ear-candy with wobbly synths and seductive vocals. RMX ROUNDUP: Young Summer + backstroke. / Small Black + Dave Harrington / Gotye + Supermayer

Time for a Remix Roundup, Memorial Day weekend style edition! First up, I’m digging this backstroke. remix of DC’s own Young Summer. A fellow DC resident, backstroke. takes the affective original (“Waves That Rolled You Under”) and adds a lush layer of bass and electronic beats. Young Summer’s EP Fever Dream was released last June, 2013 and I’m loving this local talent. Next we have Dave Harrington of Darkside’s retouch of “Lines of Latitude,” the new single from Brooklyn’s Small Black. Although I’ve not featured them on the blog before, Small Black have built up quite the following for their subdued, synthy lovesick pop sound. By upping the tempo and looping the synths, Harrington magnifies the original (off their recent Real People EP via Jagjaguwar) into a dreamy, sun-drenched rework—currently on repeat in my playlist. And lastly, after having recently watched Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, I stumbled upon this punched up remix of Gotye’s “Hearts a Mess” from German production duo Supermayer, off the single’s remixes EP.
